Billionaire-owned club now lead race to sign Rangers star, transfer valuation revealed - report

Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to secure the services of Rangers centre-back Emmanuel Fernandez this summer.

Fernandez has emerged on the radar of Premier League clubs after an incredible first season at Ibrox.

The Nigeria international joined from Peterborough for £3.5m, and Rangers now stand in line to make a profit if they cash in this summer.

Rangers want £35m for Emmanuel Fernandez as Arsenal lead chase

According to the Peterborough Telegraph, Arsenal are said to be leading the chase to sign Fernandez in the coming months.

The Gers want £35m for the 24-year-old and that is not something that is expected to put the Gunners off.

Fernandez made headlines recently, scoring his first goal for Nigeria on just his second appearance for the national team.

That strike certainly will have put his suitors on high alert, as, along with his defending and passing ability, he is also known for his goal-scoring exploits.

Along with Arsenal, a club owned by American billionaire Stan Kroenke, other Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Everton and West Ham are also admirers of the former Peterborough defender.

In Germany, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund have been credited with an interest.

However, Bayern are unwilling to pay big money to secure Fernandez’s services.

Is Fernandez in his final few months at Ibrox?

Nobody would have expected Fernandez to have the kind of debut season he has had at Ibrox.

Initially, he struggled to adapt, which was likely to be the case, but once he started playing regularly, he only grew from strength to strength.

His performances have seen him being called up to the Nigeria side as well and he is very likely to be a mainstay in that team for years to come.

It will be hard for Rangers to resist interest from the Premier League, especially if Fernandez has his head turned.

He would know that his exit would mean clubs would have to pay big money for his services, so it would benefit the Light Blues to cash in.

Danny Rohl would be reluctant to lose the centre-back, but even he would understand it if the finances are too good to turn down.
