Chelsea Star Moises Caicedo Responds to Real Madrid Transfer Speculation

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has denied rumours that he might move to Real Madrid. He says he is still fully committed to the Premier League team. While on international duty with Ecuador at their training camp in Spain ahead of a friendly against Morocco, the 24-year-old Ecuadorian spoke to the Spanish media.

Real Madrid want to sign a new midfielder this summer to fill the holes left by Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić’s departures in 2024 and 2025. In August 2023, Chelsea paid £100 million to sign Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion. He is under contract with the club until 2031, but Chelsea have the option to extend the deal for another 12 months.

When Spanish newspaper AS asked him if he could see himself at Real Madrid, Caicedo smiled and made his point clear:

“You never know in football, don’t you think? I have a contract with Chelsea now. The truth is, I haven’t thought about any other club or leaving London, but you never know. All I want is to enjoy myself. I have a contract and I want to keep playing as long as God allows. After that, we’ll see what happens and what surprises the future holds.”

“Yes, Chelsea are a great club. They’ve helped me a lot since I arrived. I want to repay them and stay there as long as I can.”

Since he joined Chelsea, the Ecuadorian international has been one of the team’s most dependable players. He was the only Chelsea player in the current squad to start all 38 Premier League games in the 2024–25 season. That same season, he also won the UEFA Conference League with the Blues. Caicedo has played in 26 Premier League games and 10 Champions League games this season, scoring five goals across both competitions.

Real Madrid Never Talked To Chelsea About Caicedo

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Real Madrid never really started talks or negotiations to sign Caicedo. Romano said that Caicedo really wants to be a part of the Chelsea project and feels a real connection with the fans and staff.

Chelsea are having a hard time right now because they have lost four games in a row in all competitions. The Blues are in sixth place in the Premier League, six points behind Aston Villa, who are in fourth place. This means that they will have a hard time getting into the Champions League for the rest of the season.

Even though things are tough right now, Caicedo’s loyalty is very different from that of his midfield partner Enzo Fernández, who has openly questioned his own future at the club. Chelsea’s next game is against Port Vale in the FA Cup quarter-finals on April 4, 2026. They want to end their losing streak and get some much-needed momentum as the season comes to a close.
