Jayden Kamason commits future to Man Utd with new contract

Jaydan Kamason has committed his future to Manchester United by signing a new contract.

Manchester United are always looking to bring players through the academy and gradually into the first team, which is why they reward their most talented prospects with professional contracts to ensure they continue their development at Old Trafford.

United have an array of talented youngsters under contract who are not yet ready for regular first-team football at the highest level, but they’re a work in progress. It’s hard to know how their careers will eventually pan out.

Some of the most exciting youngsters in the academy right now include JJ Gabriel and Chido Obi, while others like Jacob Devaney are currently out on loan.

Jaydan Kamason signs two-year deal at Man Utd

After being invited to train with United’s first team in August, Jayden Kamason has continued to impress coaches at Carrington.

The 19-year-old is waiting for his first team debut after making 15 appearances for United’s under-21s in the Premier League Two, Premier League International Cup and National League Cup.

On Friday evening, the official Manchester United website announced that Kamason has signed a new deal that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2028, with the option of a further year.

Kamason signed his first professional contract at United in 2023 after becoming the first player from the Academy’s Emerging Talent Programme (ETP) to do so.

The right-back will hope to be part of United’s pre-season squad unless a decision is made to send him on loan early in the summer.

With Diogo Dalot going to the World Cup with Portugal, there will be opportunities for Kamason to feature for the first team, albeit in non-competitive fixtures. It would still be a milestone moment for the young defender.

Kamason can now focus on playing against Real Madrid in the Premier League International Cup next week.

Diogo Dalot will be looking over his shoulder

Kamason has clearly made a positive impression on Carrick and his coaching staff to earn a new deal at United.

There is also a need for extra cover at right back because there have been times this season when Dalot has warranted criticism.

The Portugal international has performed strongly since Carrick became interim head coach, but Kamason’s new contract should give the youngster encouragement to push for some minutes in the first team next season.

Hopefully, Kamason gets pre-season to prove himself to Carrick or whoever Ineos have lined up for the permanent head coach role.
