Departing Manchester United star Casemiro will bid farewell to the club this summer with considerable sadness. The Brazilian midfielder and his wife, Anna Mariana, have expressed their affection for United ever since his arrival in 2022.
The 34-year-old is due to leave when his contract runs out. He signed for United in a deal worth up to £70million from Real Madrid and has spent the past four years in Manchester, clocking up more than 150 appearances and securing two major trophies.
Wife's tears
Casemiro revealed his wife was moved to tears when sections of United supporters urged him to stay at Old Trafford for another season. During United's 3-1 victory against Aston Villa, fans chanted "one more year, one more year Casemiro" after he broke the deadlock.
"Well, honestly I feel so happy, especially for the affection from the fans, and the respect they have for me," Casemiro said. "So, it's just gratitude for this love, it is so exciting.
"I am hoping not to cry on my last day, as it is such a beautiful experience. My wife already cried, the other day, when the fans were asking for one more year. So, I just want to enjoy it, enjoy all the moments and I will be a United fan for the rest of my life."
Casemiro had a clause in his United contract that would have led to a one-year extension if he started 35 Premier League fixtures in his final season at the club, a tally that he remains on course to reach. However, he and the club reached an agreement in January to waive the clause.

Dig at Roy Keane
The midfielder endured a torrid spell under former United manager Erik ten Hag. He was infamously substituted at half-time following a calamitous display in the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool in September 2024.
His performance drew fierce criticism from supporters and pundits alike, including United legend Roy Keane. The former United skipper let rip at half-time on Sky Sports, saying: "Mistakes from Casemiro for all his experience. They are all over the place. Casemiro must be aware of what's around him."
Anna Mariana subsequently responded to the criticism by sharing a photo of the ex-Real Madrid star's remarkable trophy cabinet. Packed from top to bottom with silverware, the gleaming cabinet highlighted the three La Liga and five Champions League titles Casemiro has won, amongst other honours.

Annoying his wife
Anna Mariana has frequently leapt to her husband's defence over the years. Yet, speaking in October 2022, Casemiro admitted that his conduct at home actually "annoys" his other half.
The Brazilian explained that his meticulous nature means he regularly re-watches his displays from previous matches, multiple times over, much to his partner's exasperation.
"I look at them a lot and I enjoy it," he said. "I think I watch through my games three or four times over. Yes, it's the way you learn and develop by correcting errors. I think it's key to continue evolving in football.
"I watch a lot of football. I love it. My wife gets a bit annoyed, as there is only football on at home! Football is my passion, it's my soul and I believe that's been the key to my success. I love football. I love watching football."

Early difficulties
Casemiro and Anna Mariana's relationship will have been permanently strengthened following the couple's relocation from Brazil, where he turned out for Sao Paulo, to the Spanish capital. During his emotional goodbye to Madrid after agreeing to sign for United, the Brazil international reflected on the early challenges he and his wife encountered.
A tearful Casemiro said: "When I got here (Madrid), my wife and I knew nobody. We were alone and we built our life story here in this city together.
"I arrived at the reserve team and I had to fight my way to the first team. I learned the values of this club, while working at their academy, to be the purest part of football."
