Chelsea’s Premier League season is threatening to collapse at the crucial time, although Alan Shearer believes one of their players has been one of the best performers of the campaign.
Liam Rosenior’s side currently sit outside of the top five in the league table, and face a huge last seven games of the season if they want to secure Champions League football for next season.
The boss will be without Enzo Fernandez for the first of those games against Manchester City after the club decided to sanction him for his comments about his future.

Alan Shearer names Joao Pedro in Premier League Team of the Season
The Blues will need the rest of their key players fit and firing, with Joao Pedro at the top of that list after his immense start to life at Stamford Bridge.
Only Erling Haaland, Igor Thiago and Antoine Semenyo have more goals than the Brazil international this season, and this has been reflected in Shearer’s Team of the Season for the official Premier League socials this season.

He chose only Pedro from the current Chelsea side, with four Arsenal players and three City stars present in his selections.
This means that the likes of Moises Caicedo, Reece James and Fernandez have all been left out despite enjoying very strong individual campaigns.

Pedro shining under Liam Rosenior
It has to be said that Pedro is finding a new vein of form since new manager Liam Rosenior took the reins from Enzo Maresca earlier this year.
The boss admitted he had some tough conversations with Pedro, however this seems to have contributed towards him becoming a far more prolific goalscorer.
A number of the players have dropped in levels since Maresca departed, however there is still time for them to salvage a top five finish.
At this point of the season, this would be seen as a successful campaign for the Blues, but they will have to address their issues in the upcoming transfer window to keep faith in the project.
