The wide receiver position has been a massive discussion piece around the San Francisco 49ers this offseason. GM John Lynch has made major moves in that position room. He signed future Hall of Fame wide receiver Mike Evans to a three-year deal. Also, former 1,000-yard wide receiver Christian Kirk was inked to a one-year deal. However, part of the reason why those moves needed to be made was because the team is now set to be without multiple receivers from a season ago.

Notable pass-catchers such as Kendrick Bourne and Brandon Aiyuk have both either signed with a new team or are expected to be on a new team. But those aren’t the only receivers that are expected to have left the Bay Area this offseason. Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox is projecting that veteran wide receiver Jauan Jennings will go to the AFC South.

Jauan Jennings Could Leave the San Francisco 49ers for the Tennessee Titans

Here is what Knox wrote about where Jenning may end up playing his football this season:

“Jennings is a very sensible option for the Tennessee Titans, who employ former 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh as their head coach. Tennessee needs to improve the supporting cast around second-year quarterback Cam Ward. Jennings would be a great perimeter addition… Adding Jennings would give Ward the sort of big-bodied possession receiver he currently lacks.”

Jennings could be the right option for Tennessee. While he might not have been the most productive wide receiver for head coach Kyle Shanahan, he had his moments as a role player when called upon. Tennessee is a team looking to turn itself into a playoff contender, but it is also in the midst of a rebuild. Jennings could be the right glue guy to bring in for Saleh and Co.

The 49ers Shouldn’t Be Worried About Losing Jauan Jennings

GettyAll-Pro tight end George Kittle will be heavily relied upon to replace Jennings once he returns from his torn Achilles, should Jennings join a new team.

The 49ers are too experienced and have too talented a core to be worried about replacing a couple of wide receivers. For Jennings specifically, although he was second on the team last season in receiving yards, he has had just one season in his career with over 700 yards receiving. Furthermore, while he has never had any major injuries, he has never played a full season in his six-year career. The soon-to-be 29-year-old can be replaced, especially when his replacement is a superstar like Evans.

In the case of Aiyuk, the former All-Pro missed the entire 2025 season due to injury and played just seven games in 2024. San Francisco is better off getting rid of his contract at this point.

Finally, Bourne was more of a speedy deep threat, and that is where Kirk can come in. The former Houston Texan has been more productive throughout his career and is a year younger.

San Francisco is still in a great position as it pertains to the strength of their pass-catching group. All-Pro tight end George Kittle, along with All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey, can help make up for these losses, too.
