New coach Klint Kubiak’s first offseason program with the Las Vegas Raiders can officially begin next week, according to the schedule released by the NFL on Friday.
The first of three phases, which limits teams to off-field activities like meetings, strength and conditioning and rehabilitation, can begin on Tuesday.
It’s the beginning of a nine-week process that culminates with mandatory minicamp from June 6 through June 11.
The rest of the program is considered voluntary under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between the league and the players’ association.
Phase two of the program runs three weeks when on-field workouts are permitted, but limited mostly to walk-throughs with offensive and defensive players only lining up with each other.
No offense vs. defense drills can be part of that phase.
The Raiders will host a voluntary minicamp from April 20-22, which is the additional portion of the offseason schedule that is granted only to teams with new coaches.
Their first week of organized team activities happens on May 18, 20 and 21.
Another set of OTAs will take place on May 26, 28 and 29 and then conclude from June 1 through June 4.
That final phase lasts four weeks where teams are allowed a total of 10 practices. While no live contact is allowed, teams can run traditional 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.
Transactions
The Raiders held a visit with free agent running back Najee Harris, a former Pro Bowl player with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 28-year-old last season played three games for the Los Angeles Chargers before undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a torn Achilles.
The Raiders also signed safety Tristin McCollum to the one-year league-minimum contract he was tendered.
