Following the two-game suspension that was handed to Enzo Fernandez following his comments during the international break, Chelsea have loosened the reins when it comes to training.
Chelsea has handed Enzo Fernandez a two-match disciplinary suspension following controversial comments regarding a potential move to Real Madrid.
The international break wasn’t the first time Fernandez had made comments, as it all started with an interview after the loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg.
This means Fernandez will miss the FA Cup quarter-final against League One side Port Vale on Saturday, as well as the Premier League clash with Manchester City.
It’s a tough decision with such a crucial game against Manchester City in the race for a top-five spot, but it’s good to lay down a marker for Fernandez and his teammates.

Remember: Enzo Fernandez will not be available…
Chelsea will allow Enzo Fernandez to train
Kieran Gill has shared that Enzo Fernandez will be allowed to continue to train with Chelsea’s first team while suspended from playing against Port Vale and Man City.
Liam Rosenior had this to say:
“He’ll still be here, he’ll still train, he’s still part of the group.”
This is the right call, too. Allowing Fernandez to train with his Chelsea teammates keeps him match fit and the morale up in the squad, as opposed to banishing him from training and causing tension.

This has happened before with Romelu Lukaku
While the current situation with Enzo Fernandez and manager Liam Rosenior is making headlines today, Chelsea has a well-documented history of sidelining players for off-pitch remarks.
The most recent incident occurred in January 2022, when Romelu Lukaku was dropped from the squad for Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Liverpool. The decision was made by then-manager Thomas Tuchel after Lukaku gave an unauthorised interview to Sky Italy, where he expressed unhappiness with the then Chelsea manager’s system and admitted he hoped to return to Inter Milan.
