Man Utd wonderkid has a golden chance to take Man Utd by storm in pre-season, position will be his - Opinion

Jaydan Kamason signed his new deal with Manchester United this week, and this summer he might get his golden opportunity to step into the first team.

Manchester United’s academy right-back Jaydan Kamason has long been considered a talent capable of making waves in the first-team squad.

The club must agree, as Kamason signed his new United contract, which keeps him at the club until 2028 at least. After the announcement, Kamason’s teammates congratulated him, but his message was that his was only the start.

Kamason’s next step will be to try to break into the first team, and this summer he has a golden chance to do so.

Which youngster are you MOST excited to watch during pre-season?

Jaydan Kamason could get a chance to stake his claim during pre-season

Kamason has been in first-team training a lot this season, but pre-season could be when he gets a proper chance to shine as a senior player.

The reason for this is that both Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui will be at the World Cup in June and July, meaning the two right-backs in the squad will miss at least the beginning of the pre-season tour of Europe.

This will leave United looking for a right-back, and Kamason is best placed to replace Dalot for the pre-season tour, and this could be a career-defining summer for the 19-year-old.

If Kamason gets the opportunity to start games and impresses, he might end up playing himself into the first-team squad as an option at right-back.

United will be desperate for a right-back talent to emerge, as Portugal and Morocco are expected to go far in the World Cup, meaning they may miss the opening two games of the tour.

What do YOU think of Manchester United’s pre-season schedule for 2026?

Assuming Dalot or Mazraoui get to the quarter-finals, that would be July 9th, so they would probably only return by the PSG friendly on August 8th, giving Kamason three games to either make himself a first-team player or be on the loan list come August.

Manchester United could also give Yuel Helafu a first-team opportunity

As much as Kamason is the leading contender to fill the void left by Dalot and Mazraoui, Yuel Helafu is an equally exciting potential promotion.

Helafu has been in first-team training under Michael Carrick, with his under-18 performances establishing him as one of the biggest talents at the club.

United coaches have been shocked by Helafu and his lightning-fast rise over the past year since coming into the under-18 side.

Helafu will give Kamason a run for his money in pre-season, and whichever performs best will likely get a subsequent debut at some stage next season.
