"I can confirm" - Man Utd eyeing "amazing" centre-back as "top" contract agreement emerges

Manchester United have now set their sights on signing an impressive defensive addition, following the emergence of a "top" contract agreement.

Man Utd kick start summer plans

With Michael Carrick's side on course to secure Champions League football this season, Manchester United could be set for a blockbuster summer courtesy of INEOS.

The Old Trafford chiefs have certainly got more right than wrong with their recruitment in the last 12 months. Senne Lammens, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha have all been instant hits - highlighting the improvement that's been made in that department.

This would be an excellent move...

But it must only be the start. Reports are claiming that the Red Devils are prepared to ruffle a few feathers and welcome Premier League stars once again this summer.

Sandro Tonali has been one of the biggest names in the headlines and it very much looks as though he will be top of Man United's wishlist in the coming months.

The Italian has impressed even as Newcastle have struggled this season and as Casemiro prepares to depart, there's every chance that he becomes the ideal replacement this summer.

But he's not the only option. By now, everyone at Old Trafford should be familiar with the name Elliot Anderson. The Nottingham Forest star has cemented his place in Thomas Tuchel's England side next to Declan Rice ahead of the World Cup and is set to be one of the most in-demand players this summer.

Man United's recruitment isn't exactly discrete, but sometimes the most obvious solutions are right in front of them. And other times, they're playing a starring role in the Bundesliga.

Reporter confirms Man Utd's Schlotterbeck interest

According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Man United are now eyeing a move to sign Nico Schlotterbeck this summer.

Even after it emerged that he has a "top" contract agreement with Borussia Dortmund, the defender is yet to officially sign on the dotted line in Germany. And as things stand, he's still on course to become a free agent in 2027 - allowing Man Utd to swoop in at a bargain price 12 months early.

Plettenberg confirmed interest from those at Old Trafford, saying: "I can confirm that Man Utd are interested in Nico Schlotterbeck."

Scout Jacek Kulig dubbed Schlotterbeck "amazing" during his time at Freiburg and he's only reached bigger and better levels ever since.

It's no surprise that there's been interest from Liverpool as well as Man United ahead of this summer. Dortmund face an almighty task to keep hold of him if those clubs come knocking, no matter if they reach a contract agreement or not.
