Enzo Fernández’s comments in recent weeks have not gone down well with some at Chelsea.
First, he raised doubts as to whether he would be at the club next season following their exit from the Champions League.
And then, with links to Real Madrid growing, he expressed how much he likes Madrid as a city, whilst also hinting that the project at Chelsea is failing.
Chelsea are unimpressed by Fernández and his behaviour, and there are some who believe it would be no bad thing if he were sold, because he is becoming an increasingly toxic voice in the dressing room. He has been suspended for two games by the club as a sign of their discontent, but it may not end there.
It would take a huge fee, with Chelsea wanting to recoup most of the £100m-plus that they paid Benfica for the Argentine international.
But at the same time, it is difficult to see the logic of keeping somebody who is no longer aligned with the strategy and vision of the club.
