Club are now pushing to sell Man Utd target quickly, demanding more than£35m - Journalist

This summer, Manchester United are expected to target a new left-winger, and one option linked has been Said El Mala.

Since returning to a back four, Manchester United’s lack of natural width on the left has been a weakness, which has led to interest in a new option in that position.

United have had interest in Yan Diomande, with the RB Leipzig winger one of this season’s biggest breakout talents, although he would cost potentially £100m.

Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye has also been linked with United, but he again could cost a lot, considering his Premier League status. Therefore, one exciting target who could be a bargain is Said El Mala.

FC Koln now wants to accelerate the sale of Said El Mala

United were considering El Mala back in December, with a move to sign the Koln winger considered a potentially shrewd idea given his potential to be an elite player in the near future.

Now, according to German football journalist Florian Plettenberg, a move for the 19-year-old this summer to the Premier League looks likely.

FC Koln are pushing for a quick resolution and sale of El Mala this summer; however, their price for the winger hasn’t yet been named.

£35m is not going to be enough with Brighton already refused at that price, although they remain seriously interested, with numerous other Premier League sides also keen.

United should be in this group, with the German under-21 talent’s ceiling being incredibly high, and signed to rotate with Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha, he could be a brilliant addition.

Manchester United should act now to sign El Mala

Signing El Mala this summer would not see Manchester United welcome a player who could start from gameweek one and be consistently brilliant, because of his youth.

This season, El Mala has scored 10 and assisted three in the Bundesliga despite starting just 13 games, which demonstrates his ability, which will only continue to improve in the coming seasons.

So this summer will be the cheapest that El Mala is available for, because if he goes to Brighton, chances are they will be asking for £80m in a year’s time.

Signing the German as the left-wing reinforcement would see United gain power and pace on the left, along with finishing and wing-play, which have been lacking.

Christopher Vivell will know best whether a move should be made, but for £40m or around that fee, El Mala could end up being a real bargain for United.
