Andrea Berta appears to have stepped up preparations ahead of the transfer window. The Arsenal sporting director, who promised to 'shape a successful future' when he replaced Edu, welcomed lots of new faces to the Emirates Stadium during his first summer in charge.

He made quite the impression, forking out just over £250m on new players. Berta significantly bolstered Mikel Arteta's squad, bringing in a healthy balance of exciting forwards, midfield maestros and stalwart defenders.

Although the Italian strengthened the Gunners across the board, putting them in pole position to finally win the Premier League, he struggled to balance the books. The north Londoners ended the last transfer window with one of the steepest net spends in Europe.

So, at the end of the season, Berta will be tasked with offloading a few players in an effort to raise funds. That said, the Arsenal chief appears to have started laying the foundations to another busy summer of arrivals.

During the international break, Berta visited the Best Of You Sports headquarters in Madrid, Spain. The sport management agency has a wealth of players on its books, including Casemiro at Manchester United and Gonzalo Garcia at Real Madrid.

They also manage Jacobo Ramón at Como, who has previously been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. Best Of You Sports marked the occasion with a post on Instagram, describing the Arsenal chief as 'one of the most important figures in international football'.

The caption, translated from Spanish to English, reads: "This week we had a very special visit at our offices: Andrea Berta, sporting director of @arsenal and one of the most important figures in international football."

Although Berta visited the Best Of You Sports offices, it remains unclear whether Arsenal plan to splash the cash in the summer and, if so, how. That said, football.london understands the Gunners are interested in Julian Alvarez, and they're well-positioned to secure his signature should an opportunity arise.

However, any potential move for the Atletico Madrid star would require a substantial fee, so the north Londoners may need to raise funds before looking to wrap up a deal.

Regardless of whether Arsenal sign Alvarez, Berta has always planned to 're-establish the club as a major force'. Back in March 2025, the former Atletico chief said: "I am thrilled to be joining Arsenal in what is a hugely exciting period for the club.

"I have watched with great interest the way Arsenal has evolved in recent years and I have admired the hard work that has gone into re-establishing the club as a major force in European football with a passionate following around the world.

"The club has great values and a rich history, and I am looking forward to playing my part in shaping a successful future with a great team."

Meanwhile, Josh Kroenke said: "Anyone who knows football knows Andrea is an impressive figure. He has vast knowledge of the game, a great track record, a strong network and an insatiable desire to build winning teams.

"Andrea will be a great addition to our club. He understands our values and what we stand for and we have no doubt he will help us push on and take the next steps in our bid to win major trophies.

"We undertook a thorough recruitment process and we were hugely impressed with the level of all the other candidates, but it was Andrea’s experience and the success he has enjoyed that stood out..."
