Fiorentina Women slipped to a disappointing result on Saturday as a lucky deflection gave Juventus a 2-1 victory at Rocco B. Commisso Viola Park
After a strong start by Fiorentina, Lindsey Thomas headed the visitors in front after 13 minutes.
The Viola kept knocking at the door and got the equalizer they deserved shortly before the break when a fine team move ended with Emilie Woldvik crossing for Iris Omarsdottir to head home.
Fiorentina began the second half on the front foot but it was Juventus to took the lead again with a huge slice of fortune: Lia Walti's shot from outside the box was heading wide when it deflected off Cecilia Salvai and became impossible for Cecilie Fiskerstrand to stop.
Our girls upped the pressure as they sought to restore parity but were unable to find the goal they needed. They can nonetheless leave the field with their heads held high.
After the international break, the Viola will travel to Ternana for a 18:00 kick off on April 26.
