Tyreek Hill sparked speculation of a possible Dolphins return

After four seasons, the Miami Dolphins parted ways with Mike McDaniel, which seemed to officially put an end to the team’s philosophy of building the fastest team in the NFL. During those four years, the Dolphins were able to provide explosive plays at a high rate due to the speed on their roster.

The leader of Miami’s speedsters was All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who despite achieving more team success with the Kansas City Chiefs, posted the two best statistical seasons of his career with the Dolphins. After Miami acquired him prior to the 2022 season, Hill delivered back-to-back first-team All-Pro seasons as he broke Miami’s single-season receiving record in his first two seasons.

Unfortunately, Hill’s last two seasons with the Dolphins did not live up to the first part of his tenure. He failed to surpass 1,000 receiving yards during the 2024 season and even declared he wanted out of Miami following the last game of the season. Things seemed to be fixed by Hill and the Dolphins by the time the 2025 season began, and Hill looked back to his dominant self. However, things went sideways as he suffered a devastating dislocated knee during the team’s Week 4 game against the Jets, and he was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the season.

With Hill facing a $51 million cap hit, theDolphins decided to release the talented wide receiver. Things appeared to end amicably as both sides thanked each other publicly through social media. Now, the former Dolphins receiver has fueled speculation on a possible return.

Hill Posts Image in Miami Dolphins Facility

As he continues to rehab, the veteran wide receiverposted a picture on his Snapchat story showing he was at the Miami Dolphins training facility. He included a blue heart with the image and the location.

Despite the devastating injury, Hill and his agent have both indicated that the expectation is that he will be available for Week 1 of the regular season. Hill has previously hinted at a reunion with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers, but this post made some Dolphins fans hope for a possible Dolphins return. One replied to the image, “run it back.”

Possibilities for a Return

There are several factors to take into consideration when discussing a potential Tyreek Hill return to the Dolphins. First, him posting an image in the Dolphins facility is likely not an indication that any reunion is in the works, but it is a positive sign that the team and Hill maintain a positive relationship despite the release.

Hill, 32, will likely prioritize a team that can be in contention, which could rule out the Dolphins. What Miami could offer Hill, aside from familiarity and not having to relocate, is the possibility of becoming the team’s No. 1 wide receiver.

The Dolphins currently employ wide receivers Malik Washington, Tutu Atwell and Jalen Tolbert. Only Washington finished with more yards than Hill did, despite Hill playing only four games last season.

Hill could realistically sign for a one-year veteran minimum contract, and use the 2026 season as a showcase for 32 teams, as he looks to land a larger contract following the season.
