Trevoh Chalobah says one manager who Chelsea sacked was actually'good'

While many players shy away from discussing former bosses, Trevoh Chalobah has nothing but praise for Thomas Tuchel, the man he credits with kickstarting his professional career at Stamford Bridge.

It was Thomas Tuchel who handed Trevoh Chalobah his senior debut in the 2021 UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal, a bold move that paid off when Chalobah played the full 120 minutes to help secure the trophy.

Just days later, Tuchel showed further faith by starting him in the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace, where Chalobah scored a memorable long-range goal that left him in tears of joy.

Under Tuchel’s guidance, Chalobah transformed from a loanee into a reliable first-team player.

And the Chelsea man still hasn’t forgotten everything the England boss did for him.

Trevoh Chalobah speaks highly of Thomas Tuchel

Speaking in a live Q&A with DAZN, Trevoh Chalobah was asked about his opinion on former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, and his response was a positive one.

He stated.

“Was good. Grateful he gave me my Chelsea debut.”

Under Liam Rosenior, Trevoh Chalobah has been a defensive mainstay this season, starting 29 Premier League matches and contributing to nine clean sheets.

Beyond his defensive work, he has showcased an attacking threat with three goals. Though currently sidelined with an ankle injury, he remains vital to Chelsea’s backline.

Thomas Tuchel is still a big fan of Trevoh Chalobah

Despite Chalobah’s current injury, England manager Thomas Tuchel has stated that he favours the Chelsea defender over Harry Maguire at centre-back for the World Cup.

“I see Trevoh Chalobah, on the level of mobility, as slightly ahead of him [Maguire].”

A bold statement that speaks of how good Chalobah has been of late for Chelsea, as well as the fact that Tuchel knows he can trust him from his time at Stamford Bridge.
