Bills predicted to make another trade with Bears.
The Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears may not be done trading with one another.
Buffalo and Chicago pulled off a bold trade as the Bills acquired DJ Moore to become the team’s No. 1 receiver. Although the price to acquire Moore was higher than some thought, it was a necessary move. Yet, the team may make another trade sooner rather than later.
NFL draft analyst Chad Reuter of NFL.com predicted the Bills and Bears will pull off a draft day trade, as Buffalo will move up one spot to take Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion.
“Acquiring DJ Moore from Chicago earlier this offseason was a good first step in building a strong receiver room,” Reuter wrote. “But the Bills deal with the Bears (again) to ensure Josh Allen has a full complement of targets. Buffalo sends the fifth-round pick it received in the Moore trade back to Chicago to stave off other interested trade partners.”
“The Texas A&M wideout is considered a slot receiver by some, but he lined up outside more often than inside last season. He has the size (6-foot, 196 pounds) to challenge corners on the boundary. … General manager Ryan Poles should be happy to regain his fifth-round pick from Buffalo while moving down just one spot.”
It’s a minimal price to pay for Buffalo to move up one spot and bring in another weapon to pair with Moore. Concepcion recorded 61 receptions for 919 yards and 9 touchdowns last season with the Aggies.
Concepcion can also be a punt and kick returner if needed, but can become a solid No. 3 receiver for the Bills.
NFL Execs Rips Bills Trade for Moore
Buffalo has been looking for a top receiver for quite some time now, and the Bills made a bold move to acquire Moore from the Bears.
However, the Bears were looking to move on from Moore. And the Bills still gave up a second-round pick, and NFL execs felt like it was a massive overpay.
“D.J. Moore was gonna get cut, and they gave up a second-round pick to get him,” one exec said to The Athletic. “They gave up a second-round pick and $40 million (in guarantees). What is going on?”
Another exec felt like Moore doesn’t bring anything different to the Bills roster.
“D.J. Moore has two years of regression now,” another exec said. “He is a non-traditional receiver that wins with size and yards after the catch. I still feel they needed someone that could win down the field. Moore can do that — he did it to beat Green Bay. But I feel like his strength is on the underneath catch-and-run stuff, which they already have with (Khalil) Shakir.”
Moore recorded 50 receptions for 682 yards and 6 touchdowns last season.
Concepcion Draft Profile
Concepcion is expected to be a first-round pick and will be taken in the 20’s.
The Aggies receiver is considered a great route runner, but his speed is a question mark. However, his vision and ability to track down balls are a plus and something offenses can build around.
Concepcion is also known for his ability to make plays after the catch with his toughness. Meanwhile, another negative on him is his drops. But that is something he could improve on in the NFL with the right coaching.
