Barcelona took a big step closer to retaining their LaLiga title after claiming a 2-1 win at 10-man Atlético Madrid to take full advantage of Real Madrid’s slipup earlier on Saturday.
Robert Lewandowski scored an 87th-minute winner for Hansi Flick’s side to secure the win after Marcus Rashford had canceled out Giuliano Simeone’s opener for the home side at the end of the first half.
Atlético played the entire second half down a man after Nicolás González was red carded deep into first-half stoppage time.
The win takes Barcelona seven points clear of Real Madrid with eight games remaining after their great rivals suffered a surprise 2-1 loss at Mallorca.
