Packers and 49ers named possible landing spots for former $71 million All-Pro playmaker

The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers are NFC contenders who still have a few glaring needs on their rosters, especially at wide receiver.

Green Bay has a ton of young talent at receiver, but none have yet to break out in a major way. Adding an established pass-catching option for quarterback Jordan Love would be a logical move.

San Francisco is expected to move on from Brandon Aiyuk at some point in the near future, and with Jauan Jennings still on the free agenct market and unlikely to return, receiver is still a need despite the addition of Mike Evans.

As a result, an NFL analyst believes the Packers and 49ers are top landing spots for a former All-Pro receiver still on the market.

Packers and 49ers named possible landing spots for Deebo Samuel

Sports Illustrated's Mark Morales-Smith believes the Packers and 49ers should target Washington Commanders free agent receiver Deebo Samuel.

Though Samuel doesn't possess the same explosiveness he once did, the 30-year-old is still a productive player who tallied 72 receptions for 727 yards and five touchdowns with the Commanders this past season, while dealing with inconsistent quarterback play.

Samuel would step right in as one of Green Bay's top receivers and add some much-needed experience to the position group. He would also be a fantastic mentor for the young pass-catchers, especially Jayden Reed, who shares a similar playstyle to Samuel.

A reunion in San Francisco is also an option for Samuel. The South Carolina product would pair well with Evans and Ricky Pearsall, and already knows Kyle Shanahan's offense very well.

At this point, Samuel should be fairly cheap to sign, and the Packers and 49ers should look into acquiring the veteran to play valuable snaps for them in 2026.
