Why Romeo Lavia had Liam Rosenior literally punching himself in Port Vale win - journalist

Romeo Lavia was involved in one moment during Chelsea’s victory over Port Vale on Saturday that got Liam Rosenior really hyped up.

Rosenior had the opportunity to celebrate many times at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea beat their opponents 7-0 in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Goals were not the only thing that made the Chelsea head coach animated on the touchline, though.

Anything to take away from this?

Liam Rosenior enjoyed Romeo Lavia’s tackle during Chelsea’s victory over Port Vale

Lavia produced one tackle that made Rosenior very happy, it is fair to say.

After a challenge that the midfielder had made with the scoreline at 2-0, Rosenior punched his fist into his hand a couple of times and said the word “good” in the direction of his bench.

The scene was caught by Sky Sports reporter Peter Smith, who along with many other journalists saw Chelsea pick up a much-needed win.

The Blues were on a run of four consecutive defeats and had failed to score in any of their previous three matches.

Just before the international break, Chelsea lost 3-0 to Everton, which followed another 3-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain and a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United.

However, against Port Vale, they were much more clinical. After the match, manager Jon Brady described Chelsea’s players as “ruthless”.

How many tackles did Romeo Lavia make against Port Vale in total?

According to Sofascore, Lavia attempted two tackles and won both of them. He also won three out of six ground duels.

Rosenior will be pleased with the 22-year-old’s overall performance. His passing was very good as well, as it normally is.

Lavia finished the FA Cup tie with a pass success rate of 93% after completing 71 out of 76 passes. When the Belgian is fit, he is such a huge asset to this Chelsea team. Hopefully, Lavia can continue to remain injury-free for what is left of this season, as the Blues have some tough sides to play against before the end of May. They need all the help that they can get.
