Chelsea agree midfielder signing

Whilst Enzo Fernandez may currently be in their bad books, handed a two game ban for his recent comments criticising the club. Chelsea’s appetite for Argentine midfielder remains undiminished.

That is because they have reached full agreement to sign Valentin Barco from sister club Strasbourg.

The 21-year old will make the move this summer, with Chelsea accelerating the deal to ward of interest from other suitors like Bayern Munich.

Like Fernandez, Barco began his career with Boca Juniors, and then he had a spell in England with Brighton, although his game time was limited. Instead he was sent on loan, first to Sevilla, and then to Strasbourg where he performed sufficiently well that the move was made permanent.

Barco has also become a full Argentine international and shared a pitch with Fernandez in a recent friendly against Zambia, and scored the fifth goal in a 5 – 0 rout.

He played under current Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior during his time at the Ligue 1 club.
