Arsenal U21s secured an important victory yesterday as they beat their West Bromwich Albion counterparts 1-0 at home to ensure that they will compete in the end of season play-offs for the third consecutive season.
Although Arsenal weren’t at their best during the game there were still some moments of quality, especially the goal from Demiane Agustien in the 19th minute against his former team.
Dutch youth international Agustien, who also previously played for Derby, has become increasingly involved with the U21s in the second half of his first season at the club.
Mainly an attacking midfielder, the 18-year-old moved into a slightly deeper position in the second half after Theo Julienne was withdrawn at half time due to injury.
Even when watching him in the warm up it was evident that Agustien possesses much in the way of flair.
He is a somewhat unusual player in that he seems to find the more challenging aspects of the game easier than the simpler ones.
However, he is making encouraging progress in terms of his overall development and will be targeting a callup to the first-team squad at some stage next season.
Arsenal, who defended superbly against West Brom, will play Crystal Palace away in their final game of the regular season before the play-offs commence.
