Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford took a step closer to winning the La Liga title with Barcelona this weekend.
On Saturday evening, Marcus Rashford starred and scored in Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in La Liga.
Despite his goal, Rashford got mixed reviews from Spanish media after the full-time whistle, with some outlets describing him as “inconsistent”.
But a priceless three points means that Barcelona now sit seven points clear at the top of the La Liga table. Rashford’s Barcelona future is unclear for now, but his full focus will be on winning what will be the first league title of his career.

Marcus Rashford dreamed of winning the Premier League at Man Utd
As a Manchester-born star and a Carrington graduate, Rashford grew up in red and dreamed of playing at Old Trafford. Once he made his breakthrough and cemented his first-team status, his dream shifted to winning the Premier League with the Red Devils.
In 2024, Rashford told MUTV about his ultimate target: “I think as you get older, your dreams change as well,” Rashford said. “So, in the beginning, it was just about playing for Man United. And when you get there, it’s about winning.
“So I still have dreams of winning the big trophies, the Premier League and Champions League with Man United. So, hopefully, we can get that done.”

Rashford is now closing in on his first league title, but it’s not the Premier League, and it’s not with Manchester United.
Considering that United will not welcome Rashford back this summer, it seems as though Rashford’s Premier League dreams are dead and buried. Only he can say whether forcing a move away was worth it or not. But his answer may depend on what happens in 2028.
What do you think is Marcus Rashford’s legacy at Man Utd?
Marcus Rashford will miss Man Utd’s title charge in 2028
Since the takeover, Ineos launched ‘Project 150’ which details a plan for United to win the Premier League by the club’s 150th anniversary in 2028.
United’s team could look very different in 2028 for that title charge, but it seems a safe bet that Rashford will not be involved.

If the Red Devils do go on to win the Premier League in the next three years, under Michael Carrick or perhaps another head coach, then suddenly Rashford may look back on his United exit very differently.
Rashford was already cementing a legendary status at Old Trafford, and if he stayed and fought for a Premier League title with United, it would have put his name in the history books alongside club greats.
