Chelsea dealt new blow as Liam Rosenior confirms summer signing has picked up injury setback

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has revealed that Jamie Gittens has picked up another injury. The Englishman has another hamstring injury and will be out for some time.

Speaking to the media after the Port Vale win, Rosenior said that Gittens was not in the squad because he got injured in training. He said that the injury was another hamstring issue, and they are sending him for a scan, but are unsure when he will return.

"Unfortunately, Jamie, in training yesterday, picked up what looks like a hamstring injury again. We have to scan him and make sure. It's a real shame for him, I think it's the third time it's happened. We need to help him and we need to make sure he's okay. I can't give you a time frame on that at the moment."

Gittens' injury saw Ryan Kavuma-McQueen get a chance in the FA Cup game. The teenager came off the bench in the second half, and Rosenior was delighted for the academy star.

"I was so happy for Ryan. I had the pleasure of watching him in the FA Youth Cup game maybe six weeks ago. I know a lot about the academy. The academy coaches tell me a lot about the players. I felt it was a really good moment for Ryan and for what is traditionally an outstanding academy to have another debut." (via Football London)

Gittens had picked up a hamstring injury earlier this year, and had not played since going off against West Ham United in January.

Liam Rosenior delighted to take Chelsea to Wembley

Chelsea sealed a place in the FA Cup semifinal after thrashing Port Vale 7-0 at Stamford Bridge. The Blues manager, Liam Rosenior, was asked about his feelings after the win and he was delighted to take the club to Wembley.

However, he said that the focus is on Manchester City now and not the FA Cup semifinal and said:

"That's what you dream of, but people keep asking me questions about what does it mean for me. I'm manager and head coach of a huge club where it's deemed normal for us to be in that situation. So I'll think about Wembley when we're there. We've got a huge game against Manchester City next Sunday that my focus is fully on now." (via Football London)

Chelsea will take on Southampton, Manchester City, West Ham United, or Leeds in the semifinal later this month, with the final taking place next month.
