DerekGreen’s Football Background and Career Shift
Green comes from a strong NFL background. He is the son of former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Trent Green, who played 15seasons in the league and earned two Pro Bowl selections. Derek also played quarterback, starting at Southern Methodist University before transferring to Long Island University.
After college, Derek briefly played in the European League of Football from 2023 to 2024. He later stepped away from football and shifted his focus to business. He earned a degree in finance and now works as a Sports Operations Manager at Creative Planning, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Hunt andDerek’s relationship spans years before their engagement. The couple went public in April 2025, but their connection dates back much further. Speaking to People, Hunt said, “Derek and I have known each other our whole lives.”
In April of 2025, she explained how theirfamilies’ ties to the Chiefs brought them together early on.
“We would actually play together as babies during theChiefs’ Christmas parties every year,”she said. Hunt added that they reconnected later in life, noting, “We reconnected as adults in 2017 and met on the sidelines pregame. We reconnected in early March and have been inseparable ever since.”
The engagement quickly drew reactions from the Hunt family. GracieHunt’s sister Ava Hunt commented, “I am overjoyed,”while her mother Tavia Hunt wrote, “DREAMS DO COME TRUE!! Congratulationsyou two!! We love you so much!!!”

In an interview with People, she said, “Every off-season, my goal is really to focus on growing my faith, which is a grounding and inspiring part of my life.”
She added that spending time with family and exploring new opportunities are also priorities. “It’s to make sure that I spend quality time with my family and friends and really cherish those meaningful connections,”Hunt said.
“Beyond that,it’s exploring business opportunities that give me a fresh perspective and can really help me prepare for the future,”she explained. “The last objective of the off-season is to spend time in nature, to reset and recharge. That way,I’m ready to give my best in the upcoming season.”
