Travon Walker had a quiet 2025 season, though the Jacksonville Jaguars had a good campaign. The franchise finished the season with a 13-4 record in the regular season and ended first in the AFC South. However, their playoff journey was cut short in the Wild Card Round with a narrow 24-27 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
With the next season ahead of them, the Jaguars are now making some important decisions. They have taken an important step regarding one of their players.
Travon Walker gets $110 million extension
The Jaguars have agreed to a four-year, $110 million contract extension with Walker. Confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal includes $77 million in total guarantees and $50 million fully guaranteed at signing. The extension puts him at the franchise until the 2030 season, and he will have an average annual value of $27.5 million. This means that Walker is now placed 12th among all edge rushers in the NFL in average annual value.

Walker was selected by the Jaguars as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Since then, he has played in 63 games through four seasons. He has 200 combined tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 27.5 sacks, an interception, and even has one touchdown from a fumble recovery in all of those games. The 25-year-old had a down season in 2025, with only 3.5 sacks and 38 combined tackles to show in 14 appearances. Wrist and knee injuries impacted his season negatively.
Despite the expensive contract, many analysts expect that the player will only become more important in the years to come for the franchise. By tying down a young, talented defensive end to a long-term contract, they can now focus on other pressing issues.
However, many fans do not seem to agree with the decision. A lot of them have voiced concerns over such an expensive contract being gifted to a player who has still got a lot to prove.
