Chargers select Keenan Allen replacement in latest mock draft

The Los Angeles Chargers' offseason approach has baffled many, with the franchise having cap space to make some key moves but opting not to.

With Justin Herbert in need of offensive line reinforcements, along with another weapon in the passing game, the fact that the Chargers haven't gotten a proper needle-mover yet is odd.

But with still a few weeks until the NFL Draft, the Chargers can get some key pieces for Mike McDaniel if they so choose. If not, it's the draft, and for NFL.com's Nick Shook, in his latest mock, Herbert gets another weapon in Indiana's Omar Cooper Jr.

"As much as the Chargers need depth, they can't afford to spend another first-round pick on an offensive lineman," Shook wrote. "They also can't afford to take a swing on an oft-injured receiver. So they land on Cooper, a great run-after-catch target who could make for a frightening duo with Justin Herbert ."

Chargers ready to take next step?

Well, fans would hope so.

Back-to-back seasons of 11 wins and playoff football, the time has come for Jim Harbaugh's Chargers to not only make the postseason, but to win games.

Herbert has the talent, and maybe having Mike McDaniel as the offensive coordinator is what will push the offense forward.

Given that the franchise still has ample cap space, it means that the Chargers should still be on the lookout for pieces to add to the roster.

But even if they don't, we should expect the Chargers to be a better version in 2026.

Will that translate to success? We're about to find out.
