Romano Confirms That South American Star“Has Said Yes To Chelsea”As Blues Close In On Summer Transfer

**Strasbourg midfielder Valentin Barco has accepted a move to Chelsea this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.**

The Blues have not finalised the deal yet, but Romano says it is entirely up to the London club whether they want to snap up the Argentinian international:

“Valentin Barco has said yes to Chelsea move, personal terms agreed ahead of potential summer transfer.”

“Colo Barco wants Chelsea and it’s all set on player side. Up to Chelsea if/when to proceed, in total control of the deal being at Strasbourg.”

What do fans need to know about Barco?

The 21-year-old came through the ranks of Boca Juniors, making his debut in July 2021 against Union Saint Fe.

After 35 appearances, Brighton signed Barco for $10m, but he struggled to establish himself on the south coast, making just seven appearances in total for the Seagulls.

A loan move to Sevilla also didn’t work out, and he was subsequently sold to Strasbourg in a deal worth close to £8m in July last year, just 18 months after making the switch to Brighton.

[**Barco**](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-transfer-news-valentin-barco/) was deployed as a left-back or left winger early in his career, but his best performances for Strasbourg have been as a central midfield player. He has scored 2 goals and provided 9 assists in 38 appearances for the French club this campaign.

Chelsea have wrapped a transfer for another Strasbourg player

While the Blues haven’t yet completed the paperwork for Barco, one of the Argentinian’s current teammates, Emmanuel Emegha, will be plying his trade at Stamford Bridge next season.

It was confirmed back in September that the Netherlands international will move to London this summer for an undisclosed fee.

Emegha has spent most of the campaign on the sidelines with injury problems, but he returned as a substitute during a 3-1 win over Nice last weekend.
