Browns trade idea swaps both first-rounders with Cowboys to land extra 2nd-rounder

The Cleveland Browns come into the 2026 NFL Draft with two first-round picks, at picks No. 6 and 24. Those are some valuable selections, but that might not be where the Browns end up picking come draft night.

Andrew Berry and company aren't afraid of moving around, and with some different needs for this year's class, they could take an intriguing route in the draft.

As ESPN's Bill Barnwell proposed, one idea would have the Browns and the Dallas Cowboys swap both of their first-round picks, while also giving the Browns a very valuable trade-up in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Browns trade idea involves wild 1st-round swap with Cowboys

"Browns get: 1-12, 1-20, 2027 second-round pick. Cowboys get: 1-6, 1-24, 2027 fifth-round pick," Barnwell proposed.

This trade involves three picks going to each team, but for the Browns in the 2026 draft class, their picks would be getting a bit worse.

Essentially, they would be moving from No. 6 to No. 12, a six-pick drop outside of the top-10, while moving up from No. 24 to No. 20 in the middle of Round 1.

That's heavily leaning in the Cowboys' favor, hence why Barnwell has the Browns moving up from the fifth round in the 2027 NFL Draft to the second round in this deal.

While the Browns don't need to move around in the draft so much, this could give the Browns a bit more capital in next year's class, while also retaining two firsts this year.

At 12th overall, the Browns could still land one of the top wide receivers or offensive tackles, same with the 20th overall pick as well.

They might not land their top WR or OT with this six-pick move-down, but they could jump a few WR and OT needy teams by moving up from No. 24 to No. 20.

Plus, the Browns have plenty of draft capital and could swing another trade to move up or down, depending on how the board works out.

It's a fascinating trade idea, but for the Browns, this could work out very well as they could get a top WR and OT in Round 1 while also landing a 2027 second-rounder.
