Ruben Amorim has no intention of returning to management despite links with both Benfica and Juventus, it is being reported. The former Manchester United boss has been out of work since leaving Old Trafford in January.

Amorim spent just over a year in charge of the club, winning 25, drawing 15 and losing 23 of his 63 games. He left following a 1-1 draw with Leeds United, receiving a £12 million pay-off due to him having a contract until 2027.

United turned to Michael Carrick as a replacement on an interim basis until the end of the season, with the club winning seven and drawing two of his 10 games in charge.

There has now been speculation over where Amorim’s future could lie. According to The Sun, Amorim is emerging as a contender to replace Jose Mourinho at Benfica should his fellow countryman leave the club.

Both are also expected to be in the frame for the Portugal national team job following the expiry of Roberto Martinez’s contract after the World Cup. It’s added that Juventus contacted Amorim’s agent back in January about potentially joining the club. However, it now looks like Luciano Spalletti will sign a contract extension.

Amorim is reportedly enjoying his time away from football, having spent the Easter break in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It’s added that making an imminent return to management is not a priority for the Portuguese coach.

Amorim has recently been pictured playing padel with Man City director of football Hugo Viana. The two were teammates with both Braga and Sporting CP, and are still friends.

United, meanwhile, will be getting a plan together on who will be managing the club next season. There have been calls for Carrick to get the job permanently after his impact this season.

His time at the club has seen the side climb up to third place in the Premier League table. That puts them in the driving seat to play Champions League football next season.

United have also been linked with other names, including Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola, Gareth Southgate and Robert De Zerbi. The latter has, however, since joined Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent basis.

Julian Nagelsmann has also been linked with the United job. The German coach will be leading the German team in this summer's World Cup.
