Details of Chelsea’s new home shirt for the 2026/27 season appear to have leaked online ahead of release.
Chelsea’s brand new home shirt for the upcoming 2026/27 season appears to have been leaked online well ahead of its official release later this summer – and supporters appears to be distinctly divided over the new design’s merits.
Footy Headlines have details – including a digital mock-up – of the new Nike-designed kit, with the information apparently corroborated by other sources online, including Opaleak. 3 Added Minutes has not yet been able to verify the alleged leak.
What Chelsea’s new home will look like for the 2026/27 season – according to leaks
The social media post alone shows a digital mock-up of Chelsea’s apparent new home shirt for next season. As it stands, there are no genuine photos of the jersey in circulation – an apparent promo shot of the kit being worn by a model which has appeared on social media is AI-generated – but the details shown in this render have been agreed upon by multiple sources.
The new shirts will, of course, be predominantly blue, but with the Nike swoosh and club crest picked out in bright yellow along with flashes of the same colour (officially called midnight gold, apparently) on the shoulders. The kit will apparently feature the simplified version of the club crest, unusual for a home shirt, with the same logo seemingly set to be used on the away kit, which was previously leaked in similar fashion.
The gold Club World Cup winner’s badge will once again appear in the centre of the chest, but with no front-of-shirt sponsor agreed for next season it’s currently impossible to know how that will tie in with the rest of the design.
The most intriguing design element, perhaps, is that sources seem to agree that a giant image of Chelsea’s primary club crest will be stitched into the design across the chest, giving the shirt a textured look. It’s not yet clear just how visible the Chelsea badge will be when the kit is officially unveiled.
Mixed reaction from Chelsea fans to new kit leak
The reaction from Chelsea supporters has been somewhat mixed - most of the comments on the alleged new design have been positive enough, but there are plenty of fans who are less than impressed by Nike’s handiwork.
One noted that he had to “admire Nike’s steadfast resolve to never give Chelsea a decent shirt,” while another commenter very simply described the fresh look as “buns” – but others were rather more impressed, describing it as “cold,” “lovely,” and in one particularly hyperbolic case “the best kit in the world.”
The final verdict on the design will depend, of course, on how close the digital renders seen above get to the end product, which is expected to be released later this summer with no date yet confirmed for the official unveiling. Chelsea will also need to confirm their main sponsor for next season, something that has taken time for each of the past two years – leading to the possibility that the kit may initially be sold sponsor-free once more.
