The New York Jets finished with a 3-14 record last season. There is a reason why New York decided to sell big time at the 2025 NFL trade deadline. They needed to acquire as many draft picks over the next couple of years. The Jets this year are going to be drafting second overall and 16th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft in the first round.

There is no doubt that they need to get these picks right. With that being said, the defense needs a major overhaul. Head coach Aaron Glenn needs to fix his side of the ball big time after they didn’t record a single interception a season ago.
Latest NFL Mock Draft Has the New York Jets Selecting Arvell Reese Second Overall

Assuming the Las Vegas Raiders select quarterback Fernando Mendoza first overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jets have a ton of options second overall on the defensive side of the football. Nick Baumgardner of the Athletic has New York selecting Ohio State Buckeyes edge rusher Arvell Reese with the second pick. Baumgardner said, “The Jets didn’t trade off all their valuable assets last year to save up for a future quarterback. They did it to rebuild a broken roster. New York needs to be in best-player-available mode throughout the 2026 draft. At No. 2, that’s Reese, a front-seven terror who can perform in any system.”
Reese is 6’4″ and weighs 243 lbs. It appears as if the Jets are going to be leaning towards drafting him second overall as the 2026 NFL Draft approaches. Reese recorded 69 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and two pass deflections last season with the Buckeyes. This Ohio State defender has a chance to be very good at the next level. New York better hope he can produce right away if they are going to take him second overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.
