There have been many times lately that the New York Giants have been drafting near the top of the first round. New York will have the fifth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. There are many different directions that head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Joe Schoen could potentially head in. They do need more help on offense for quarterback Jaxson Dart.

The Giants have some talent on the roster, but they just need to sprinkle in some more pieces. New York could very well draft another offensive lineman or a wide receiver with the fifth pick. What are the odds that they could decide to potentially do something different with that selection instead?
New York Giants Select Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love In Latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft

Nick Baumgardner of the Athletic created his latest 2026 NFL mock draft. With the fifth overall selection, he has the Giants making a shocking selection by taking running back Jeremiyah Love from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This would be stunning because New York already has Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr. on the roster. Baumgardner said, “Throughout John Harbaugh’s run with Lamar Jackson, the head coach generally made sure his quarterback’s best friend was a powerful and dynamic run game. Love ismy top-ranked player in this class — a true three-down weapon and an offensive coordinator’s dream. I believe he’s a better prospect than Ashton Jeanty was a year ago and belongs in the Bijan Robinson-Jahmyr Gibbs tier.”
If Love does go to the Giants, it would add another weapon to this offense for Dart. Last season with Notre Dame, he rushed for 1,372 yards on 199 carries and 18 touchdowns, along with averaging 6.9 yards per carry. Love also caught 27 passes for 280 yards receiving and three touchdowns, along with averaging 10.4 yards per carry. He is 6’0″ and weighs 214 lbs.
There is a great chance that Love is drafted in the Top 10 of the 2026 NFL Draft. With that being said, the Giants may need to look elsewhere fifth overall if Love gets drafted by the Tennessee Titans fourth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft here.
