Dexter Lawrence has been with the New York Giants since the 2019 NFL season. Lawrence is 28 years old and has been one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL over the last several years. In 2025, he started to show some decline a little bit. Lawrence only had 31 tackles, 0.5 sacks, one interception, and four pass deflections.

He has two years remaining left on his contract with the Giants. The question is, will Lawrence be on the team by the time his contract expires or is he going to be with a different NFL team?

Adam Schefter of ESPN revealed shocking news about one of the Giants defensive star players on Monday. He said, “ESPN sources: Giants All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade and he will not be participating in the team’s off-season workout program that opens Tuesday. Lawrence and the Giants have been through two off seasons attempting to negotiate a contract reflecting his value to the Giants over the last three years, but there has not been any progress, per sources.” This is very stunning that this news came out.
Lawrence no doubt has been one of the stars on the Giants defense despite a down year last year. If New York were to trade him, teams like the Chicago Bears, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Tennessee Titans could be interested in him. In the end, Lawrence is probably putting pressure on the Giants organization to sign him to a long-term deal. It would be a surprise if they ended up trading him away to a different team anyways.
