“Teams Were Already Interested”: NFL Insider Expects the New York Giants To Potentially Trade…

It was a shock when it was reported that New York Giants defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade from the team on Monday. He has two years remaining on his contract. Lawrence is not going to be reporting to OTAs. He has been with the Giants since the 2019 NFL season. Now, there is a good chance that he may not be with the Giants organization anymore.

During the 2025 season with New York, he recorded 31 tackles, 0.5 sacks, one interception, and four pass deflections. Lawrence is 28 years old. He has only been to the playoffs once with the Giants in his NFL career. This is probably about money, but maybe he doesn’t think he can win in New York anyways.

Dianna Russini of the Athletic posted a pivotal update about the chances that Lawrence could be traded away from the Giants. She said, “In texting with multiple league sources since Dexter Lawrence’s trade request was made public, expect the calls to only increase regarding the availability of the 28-year-old. Teams were already interested in dealing for the Giants’ DT prior to last season’s trade deadline.” It is interesting that other teams wanted to trade for him last year before the NFL trade deadline.

Some of the teams that are interested in him are the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Buffalo Bills. There will be other teams that are going to be in the Lawrence sweepstakes. There is no doubt that the Giants would get a first-round pick back for him. A couple of other teams that could be interested him would be the Tennessee Titans, the Detroit Lions, and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Giants are no doubt going to involved in a bidding war with other NFL teams also.
