Man Utd make contact to sign 'special' forward ASAP after clause triggered - report

Manchester United have made contact over a move to strengthen their attack this summer with one of the top young talents in Europe, according to reports.

The Red Devils are expected to make a move to strengthen their midfield department this summer, with Elliot Anderson understood to be the top target for the transfer window, while a left-back and left-winger are also being eyed, with the club pushing to return to the Champions League from next season.

But while a number of top stars such as Vinicius Jr and Yan Diomande have been linked with a move to Old Trafford for the forward position, it has now emerged that there is a young talent who isn't quite a household name who could be the man to fill that spot.

Kerim Alajbegovic

According to reports in Bosnia, via TEAMtalk, Man Utd have made contact over a big-money deal to sign highly-rated starlet Kerim Alajbegovic this summer.

Alajbegovic, who has been described as 'special', has had a breakout campaign with Austrian outfit RB Salzburg this season, registering 11 goals despite being just 18 years old. Those performances have seen his former club Bayer Leverkusen activate his buy-back clause less than a year after letting him leave, meaning he will return to Germany this summer.

However, the young Bosnia international's future may not necessarily lie with the Bundesliga side, with a number of top clubs showing an interest, and Man Utd are understood to have made contact over a deal worth in excess of €30m (£26.1m).

The winger, who can also play as a number ten, is seen as someone who can make an immediate impact at Old Trafford, and United want to wrap a deal up as soon as possible as they feel his value could increase significantly if he enjoys a strong tournament at the World Cup.

Alajbegovic Could Be Shrewd Signing

Michael Carrick

Michael Carrick has already made it clear that he feels the club need a new left-winger this summer, with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho expected to move on permanently.

Carrick is believed to be the frontrunner for the manager's job this summer because of the job he has done since being installed as the interim boss, and Alajbegovic's arrival could be something he's rewarded with as a result.

GIVEMESPORT asked ChatGPT to break down the youngsters strengths and weaknesses, and this was its response:
