If you asked just about anyone, fan or media, about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offseason, most to all would give them a top-notch grade. After the notable additions of Michael Pittman, Jamel Dean, Rico Dowdle, and Jaquan Brisker, the Steelers are a better team on paper than they were when their 2025 season ended in January.
Pittsburgh still has shortcomings on its roster, specifically at wide receiver. Even after trading for Pittman, the Steelers have just four receivers on their roster, two of which are Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek. Because of this, many expect a receiver to be the pick for Pittsburgh in the first round of the NFL Draft. One name in particular is one the Steelers reportedly have circled.
[NFL Draft insider Tony Pauline](https://www.essentiallysports.com/nfl-active-news-sources-colts-eye-elijah-sarratt-as-michael-pittman-jr-replacement-steelers-jets-high-on-omar-cooper-jr/) reports that Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper is “in play” for the Steelers with the 21st pick.
“I’m told Cooper is in play for the Pittsburgh Steelers at pick No. 21 despite trading for Michael Pittman, and the New York Jets are also high on the speedy wideout, though they would only consider him with the 33rd pick,” Pauline writes.
Cooper caught 69 passes and 13 touchdowns for the Hoosiers in 2025, helping Indiana win the National Championship. He had 20 touchdown receptions in his final two seasons at Indiana.
