The Chicago Bears have scheduled a top 30-visit with Miami cornerback Keionte Scott, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported.

“Source: Miami CB Keionte Scott has a 30-visit with the#Texans today, followed by the#Commanders and#Bears. The All-ACC performer posted freakish workout numbers: 4.33 40-yard dash and 44-inch vertical — and is considered a potential top-50 pick.”

Scott, who had one of the most productive seasons by any cornerback in college football last year with two interceptions (both returned for touchdowns), five sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and 64 total tackles, balled out during his Pro Day back in late March and has generated a ton of buzz with teams around the league.

Scott joined NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Judy Battista after his impressive pro day and shared his thoughts on having a breakout season.

“It speaks to defensive coordinator, what coach [Corey] Hetherman was trying to do, and to the players on the team. Everybody buying in at the same time at the right time. I felt like it was just a meshing thing and just playing with fire behind me. Playing with something to prove.”

Despite having a terrific Pro Day and having the statistics to back up his play, Scott is an older prospect. He’ll be 25 as a rookie, and Battista asked him what his message was to NFL teams as an older prospect.

“I feel like this game we play is a win-now game. I think, at the end of the day, I feel like I pride myself on being ready to buy into fully what that club is trying to do. Fully commit to helping that club do whatever it takes to win.”

If the Bears don’t mind him being an older prospect, Scott was on fire last season and knows how to make plays. During the college football playoffs, here’s a recap of Scott’s performance in 131 coverage snaps.

35 yards allowed v Texas A&M (8 targets)

25 yds v Ohio State (3 tgts)

42 yds v Ole Miss (5 tgts)

22 yds v Indiana (2 tgts)

“Keionte Scott is a dude,” Dane Brugler of The Athletic tweeted out. “Big-time difference-maker all season. NFL stock is soaring.”

The Bears would likely have to use one of their two second-round picks if they want Scott, considering there’s a high chance he won’t be available by the time the Bears pick in the third round (No. 89).

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein believes Scott “will eventually be a plus starter,” writing this regarding the Miami CB prospect:

“Scott’s play style and tackle production resemble that of a Will linebacker. He’s edgy and urgent near the line with an ability to slip off of blocks. He can snuff out run plays before they get started. Scott lacks ball production due to inconsistent break anticipation and route squeeze, but he can twitch-and-trigger to close windows, wrap and finish. He keeps yards after contact to a minimum. Scott’s blitz talent off the edge makes him a value-added rusher. He’s an older prospect and needs to play in a scheme that allows him to keep his eyes forward, but Scott’s football character should make him a team favorite as a starting nickelback.”

Having someone on the secondary who can impact the pass rush game is extremely enticing, especially for a team that needs pass rush help. With Kyler Gordon not returning to form last season, could Scott be the future at nickelback?

It’s a question that the Bears could be looking to answer during their top 30-visit with him.
