Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo’s goals have dried up recently, but he remains a key part of Michael Carrick’s plans.
Bryan Mbeumo scored the first goal of the Michael Carrick era with a memorable counter-attacking opener in the 2-0 victory over Manchester City.
Mbeumo netted in subsequent wins over Arsenal and Tottenham, but has not scored since. He has not netted in any of his last six matches.
Former star Ryan Giggs believes Manchester United fans do not need to worry about Mbeumo’s recent lack of goals.

Mbeumo making impact – Giggs
Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs believes that there is no reason to be alarmed about Mbeumo’s recent goal record.
Speaking to Webby and O’Neill, Giggs described Mbeumo as a ‘handful’ for defences and lauded his contribution.
Giggs believes that Mbeumo is still playing at a high level and is a player Michael Carrick can rely on.

He explained: “Yeah his goalscoring has probably just dipped but his performances haven’t.
“He’s one of them players that is still impacting the opposition’s defence. He still works hard and you can trust him.
“OK he might not be scoring as many goals, but you know he’s going to work the defenders, and he looks a handful.”
Mbeumo has scored 10 goals for United this season. Benjamin Sesko has recently caught him up, also reaching the same figure.

Mbeumo must still earn role
Bryan Mbeumo has seen his role alternate in recent matches, playing as a striker and also being used as a winger.
Benjamin Sesko’s recent performances from the bench have seen his game time increase, shifting Mbeumo’s role.
It’s difficult to assess what Mbeumo’s best role in the United team is. The challenge of playing him on the wing to accommodate Sesko is that it means Amad drops out.
One recent positive was that Mbeumo did not travel on international duty with Cameroon, where he was due to fly to Australia to play two friendlies.
The rest will have done him good, and he should be raring to go ahead of United’s next game against Leeds.
