ESPN's biggest Saints' question aimed at 5-time Pro Bowler

The New Orleans Saints under Kellen Moore showed improvement down the stretch last season, and now, looking toward 2026, there is a little bit of hope for the NFC South franchise.

This offseason, the big move has been the acquisition of running back Travis Etienne, but with that completed, it casts doubt on Alvin Kamara's future with the franchise.

Just 471 rushing yards, 1 TD, and 186 receiving yards last season were Kamara's lowest-ever totals in his NFL career. The now 30-year-old is having questions raised over his future with the addition of Etienne.

And for ESPN's Katherine Terrell, what the Saints do with Kamara is a fascinating watch.

"The biggest question in the running back room is whether Alvin Kamara and Etienne will be playing together in 2026," Terrell wrote. "With both backs set to each make more than $11 million this season, there's also the question of whether Kamara returns on his current contract."

Could Saints deal Kamara?

Well, with reports that Kamara will retire if he is traded to another team, it might seem like he only has eyes on playing for the Saints.

So, dealing him could be rather problematic for New Orleans.

Entering the final year of his contract, it does feel like this could be Kamara's last in New Orleans, so it makes sense that if the Saints don't have plans for him after 2026, they would try to get something in return for him.

But Kamara's retirement reports might put a spanner in the works of that plan.

So right now, Kamara's future is a fascinating watch because last season, his touches went down, and now with Etienne in the picture, they could go down even further.
