The Dallas Cowboys tried to get Maxx Crosby on their squad, but he could end up with a rival team for the 2026-27 season.

The Dallas Cowboys tried to get Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders on the team, but it didn’t work out, and even if it seems like the Cowboys avoided a problem with this situation, it still sounds pretty good to get an elite edge such as Crosby to Texas. There has to be at least a little interest that remains between the team and Crosby, but a new trade proposal puts a nix to it.

Even though Crosby is still recovering from an injury and failed his physical with the Baltimore Ravens, there’s no denying his strong stats. At the end of the 2025-26NFL regular season, according to NFL research, Crosby clocked 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception.

He’s the kind of player who also brings attitude to a team. Any player who comes up against Crosby on the field knows that he’s intimidating, and that’s a plus for the veteran defense end.

Trade Proposal Sends Max Crosby to a Team the Dallas Cowboys Don’t Like

In a Monday, April 6 feature for ESPN, Bill Barnwell sends Crosby to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for the 23rd overall pick, a 2027 third-round pick and edge Nolan Smith Jr. That’s a good deal for the Eagles.

“Though Crosby is saying that he wants to move forward with the only pro organization he has ever known after his trade to the Ravens fell through,” Barnwell states in the feature, “the same logic that led the Raiders to initially deal Crosby to Baltimore still holds.”

He adds that the Raiders doesn’t “appear to be close to seriously contending.” On top of that, “Crosby turns 29 in August. He wants to win, ideally sooner rather than later. That might happen in Vegas, but by the time it does, Crosby could be well past his peak.”

So, this trade would leave the Cowboys out to dry and land one of their NFC rivals Crosby. “That trade wouldn’t land the Eagles picks in 2026, and trading for Crosby might reduce Philly’s leverage,” Barnwell adds, “but there should still be enough interest in Brown to ensure that the Eagles get something meaningful for their top wide receiver.”

Will it actually happen? Let’s be real. These trade pitches rarely materialize, and that’s a good thing for the Dallas Cowboys.

Inside the Dallas Cowboys’ Trade Proposals to the Las Vegas Raiders for Maxx Crosby

According to a report from ESPN’s Ryan McFadden out on March 24, the Dallas Cowboys proposed three different deals to the Las Vegas Raiders that started with pick No. 20 in the 2026 draft and Osa Odighizuwa.

“Initial offers centered on Dallas’ second first-round pick at No. 20, and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa,” McFadden noted in the report. “The Cowboys then offered their top first-rounder at No. 12 and a third-round pick.”

He added, “Ultimately, the Cowboys moved to No. 12 and their second-round pick, but the last two offers, sources said, did not include Odighizuwa, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers for a third-round selection.”

So, yes, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys really did want Maxx Crosby, and they may still have him on their wish list.
