GIANTS DL REQUESTS TRADE
The Steelers rarely trade for big names, usually holding on to their draft picks. However, Omar Khan has been more open to making deals. He pulled off a big trade for DK Metcalf last year, and he acquired Michael Pittman Jr. this offseason. That’s led some fans to wonder if the Steelers could be sniffing around when notable names hit the trade market.
That market now includes New York Giants defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence, who has requested a trade, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter. Lawrence has been one of the best defensive linemen for the last few years, although he had a slightly down 2025 season. The Steelers could use more defensive line help, but don’t expect them to be one of the top teams pursuing Lawrence. His price tag is likely out of their reach.
ESPN sources: Giants All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade and he will not be participating in the team’s off-season workout program that opens Tuesday.

DESMOND KING COACHING
Desmond King II was an NFL defensive back from 2017 to 2024, playing for multiple teams. That includes suiting up for the Steelers in 2023. Although he only played in three games there before his release, it still marks him down in Steelers history. He retired last year, but is back in football now, only as a coach, not a player.
Iowa Club of Michigan stated on Twitter that King has joined Saline High School as the team’s defensive backs coach. King was an All-Pro once, and he has a lot of experience, so he should have a lot to pass on to the next generation. We’ll see how his coaching career develops from here.
FREIERMUTH WORKING OUT
The Steelers spent a second-round pick on Pat Freiermuth in 2021, and he has been a solid NFL tight end. Unfortunately, the Steelers’ offense hasn’t always showcased his talents. The team’s inconsistency at quarterback and offensive coordinator has hurt Freiermuth’s production, especially last year.
However, that’s not stopping Freiermuth from working to get back on track. The Steelers shared a video on Twitter showing him working out. While the 2026 season is still months away, Freiermuth isn’t relaxing too much.
