Man Utd have announced a new deal for defender Harry Maguire after resurgence under Michael Carrick.

Harry Maguire has signed a new one-year Manchester United contract, with the option of an additional year.

The 33-year-old defender was set to leave the club as a free agent this summer unless a new deal was agreed. United were keen to reward Maguire with a new contract following his recent resurgence under head coach Michael Carrick, and believe it is important to keep a player of his experience in the first-team squad.

Maguire has started the last 10 matches for United across all competitions and earned an England recall under Thomas Tuchel ahead of the World Cup this summer. His leadership and professionalism will be vital next season, with United set to lose popular dressing room figure Casemiro when his deal expires at the end of the campaign.
