Chelsea go into this Sunday’s game against Man City with the slim hope that win can keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Even a victory doesn’t do much for them – they’d still need a lot of points from their final six games. Right now, our top 5 chances are not looking good. That means next year’s budget will be strongly affected, and we could see the team going down a very different path.

Chelsea could let winger leave for minimal profit to balance books

The way that this project works, almost anyone is for sale at the right price, even first team regulars. We saw Noni Madueke leave last summer when the chance for a good profit was on the table, and the same thing could be true with another winger this year.

Our colleague Simon Phillips reports that Alejandro Garnacho could be sold just a year after arriving. The Argentine has played a fair amount without actually making himself a regular, and given we paid £40m for him, we can see the club being tempted by something that just allows them to break even, given Geovany Quenda is joining the squad this summer.
