Manager says Man Utd loanee proved why he's destined for Old Trafford with latest performance, 'A great moment...'

Toby Collyer was in the Hull City starting line-up on Monday night for the very first-time after recovering from injury on loan.

The Manchester United midfielder has been solid when fit this season both for West Brom and now he has shown his class for Hull City.

Toby Collyer started and shined for Hull in their 0-0 draw with Championship leaders Coventry, with his performance earning a standing ovation from supporters at the MKM Stadium.

Hull are in a promotion hunt right now, and if Collyer can stay fit, he looks likely to be key, with Sergej Jakirovic a big fan of his qualities.

Hull City boss hails Toby Collyer after full debut

The Hull boss was delighted with signing Collyer, however, the opening few months saw injuries impact the midfielder.

But he showed his class against Coventry, prompting Jakirovic to hail the 22-year-old, as quoted by Nathan Salt.

“He showed that he’s a Man United player. This is his first start in many months. It was a great moment to put him in, and he can [now] show he is a player with great potential and talent…”

For Collyer, having a manager who rates him and trusts him will be huge for his development, as he just needs to stay fit and could end up being key in a promotion for Hull.

If Hull go up, chances are Jakirovic will also want Collyer back, with a Premier League loan or even sale exactly what can be expected for the midfielder.

Fitness will be the key to his success, because the quality is evident.

Toby Collyer and Jacob Devaney should be added to United’s midfield ranks next season

Collyer isn’t the only midfielder catching the eye on loan, with Jacob Devaney shining for St. Mirren, which means the pair could find themselves proving capable of playing a role for the United senior side next season.

With a planned rebuild this summer in the midfield, United could make two signings in the midfield, but they could still leave the squad short with more games next season.

So to fill out the squad, United should be looking at home with Devaney or Collyer proving they can be that fourth or fifth choice midfielder.

Collyer has a massive few games now which will dictate where he is next season, it could be in the United squad, back on loan or maybe he will even earn a permanent move with his output.
