Mikel Arteta encouraged to get Arsenal deals done for£70 million duo

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has called on manager Mikel Arteta to undertake a significant summer clear-out, with the likes of Christian Norgaard and Ben White two players linked with a move away from the Emirates.

Speaking after the disappointing defeat to Southampton in the FA Cup, Parlour suggested that ARSENAL should not only focus on bringing in new faces but also offloading those on the fringes of first-team plans.

While Parlour didn’t list every player he believes might move on, reports have linked midfield enforcer Christian Nørgaard and defender Ben White with potential exits as part of Arsenal’s summer reshuffle.

Nørgaard, signed by Arsenal in July 2025, has struggled for consistent minutes this season with pivotal midfielder Martin Zubimendi firmly ahead in the pecking order. Reports suggest the Dane is keen to seek regular football elsewhere after making just a handful of appearances and could be on the move this summer.

Meanwhile, England international White has also been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium. After several seasons at Arsenal and a high-profile £50 million transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2021, White has seen his influence fluctuate amid competition for places and ongoing injury problems. Rumours have suggested interest from clubs both in Europe and overseas as Arsenal target defensive renewal

The Arsenal legend told talkSPORT: ‘There’s going to be a lot of work done in the summer because there’s a lot of deadwood there. He needs to get rid of quite a few players if I’m being honest.’

Why Moving On Nørgaard and White Could Benefit Arsenal

Letting Nørgaard depart could free up space in midfield for younger, more dynamic options better suited to Arteta’s pressing and ball-progression style. Although experienced and tactically disciplined, his limited role this season has underscored that he is not central to *ARSENAL*’s core plans — and a summer exit might be best for both player and club if his ambitions lie in regular starts.

Similarly, White’s situation is more nuanced. At his best, he offers versatility across defence, capable of playing right-back or centre-back.

However, recurring injuries and competition from younger defenders have seen his minutes dwindle, and the club could bank a respectable fee by moving him on while reinvesting in a long-term successor — especially if Arteta prioritises a full-time right-back tailored to his tactical demands
