Darwin Nunez could be back in the Premier League next season, with Chelsea eyeing the former Liverpool striker for a summer swoop.
Since leaving Liverpool last summer, the Uruguayan hasn’t had an easy time of it. Despite some impressive performances, Nunez’s move to Al-Hilal has soured with the Saudi side unconvinced by their purchase.
He was dropped from the league squad and everything is pointing to a swift return to Europe. Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Spurs and Newcastle have been credited with interest, but a new report puts Chelsea at the front of the queue to sign the recently-departed fan favourite.

Chelsea have laid the groundwork for a summer transfer for Darwin Nunez
It’s not the transfer link we were expecting for Nunez. He was equal parts frustrating and entertaining during his spell at Anfield, but was ultimately deemed not good enough to lead the line long-term.
Chelsea, one of Liverpool’s closest competitors in the race for the Premier League top five, don’t seem to share that view.
A report from TEAMtalk places the Blues right in the mix to sign Nunez. They have done the ‘background work’ and have spoken with his representatives, indicating that this is concrete interest that could materialise into a sensational transfer.

It’s a move not every Chelsea fan will get behind. Liverpool fans know all too well that Nunez is a wildcard — a dangerous, high-energy forward who can be excellent one game, and rage-inducing the next.

Given their chequered past with strikers, you would think BlueCo would be looking for a safer bet. He scored 40 goals in 143 appearances for Liverpool, but he falls into that same ‘inconsistent’ category as Nicolas Jackson.
Still, they clearly see benefit in pursuing the 26-year-old. One to watch.
Chelsea are back in the mix for exciting Liverpool target
As well as Nunez, Chelsea have their eye on a player the Reds have been watching closely.
Liverpool have been linked with Jules Kounde, Barcelona’s star right-back, who is being tipped to leave the Catalan outfit at the end of the season.
You can only pick ONE player for Liverpool to sign this summer, who is it?

The same report says Chelsea have ‘reignited their interest’ in the Frenchman, meaning another Red vs Blue transfer battle could ensue.
Kounde could be one of the most attractive transfer prospects this summer, so we can expect plenty more suitors to come into the conversation in the coming weeks.
