The Swedish World Cup qualifying hero scored 97 goals in 102 matches for Sporting before moving to Arsenal this summer for around 700 million kronor.
It was a drawn-out transfer that stirred emotions among Sporting supporters.
"Everything that happened was handled correctly from both sides; both Sporting and the player got what they wanted. He wanted to take the next step in his career, and we respect that," Borges said of the transfer.
Gyökeres has scored 17 goals for Arsenal so far.
