Bundesliga star sends message to Chelsea: Informs Blues of summer plans!

Luka Vuskovic has confirmed he expects to return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer following a highly praised loan spell with Hamburger SV — despite mounting interest from rivals Chelsea.

Speaking after Hamburg’s final match of the season, the defender revealed his intention to rejoin the north London side for pre-season, stating that he “feels ready” to fight for a place under the current Spurs coaching staff. Vuskovic has been a standout performer in Germany, earning plaudits for his composure, physicality, and maturity well beyond his age.

His performances have inevitably drawn attention from across Europe, with Chelsea reportedly tracking his situation closely as they continue their search for elite young defensive talent. However, sources close to Vuskovic insist the player remains focused on Tottenham, where he believes a clear pathway into the first team exists.

Tottenham signed Vuskovic as part of their long-term recruitment strategy, viewing him as one of the most promising defenders of his generation. The plan was always for him to develop through strategic loan spells before being integrated into the first-team environment. His successful stint in Germany appears to have accelerated those expectations.

At Hamburg, Vuskovic played a pivotal role in their promotion push, becoming a regular starter and earning praise from both teammates and coaching staff. His blend of aerial dominance, ball-playing ability and tactical awareness has reportedly impressed Tottenham’s hierarchy, who believe he could provide depth — and eventually competition — at centre-back.

“In football, you never know,” Vuskovic said, as quoted by the Evening Standard. It could happen next year, or in ten years. I don’t want to promise anyone anything.

“After this season, I’ll be a Tottenham player again. I have a contract there until 2030.”

With interest growing, Spurs are expected to resist any external approaches and instead give the young defender an opportunity to prove himself in pre-season.

Why Vuskovic Returning to Tottenham Is a Smart Move

Spurs need defensive depth. With injuries and inconsistency affecting the back line this season, integrating a young, versatile centre-half makes strategic sense.

Development within the club’s own system matters. Tottenham have invested heavily in Vuskovic’s potential; allowing him to train under Premier League conditions and learn the demands of Ange Postecoglou’s style will accelerate his growth.

Spurs must protect their best young assets. With CHELSEA showing interest, keeping Vuskovic close allows Tottenham to maintain control over his trajectory and prevent a talented prospect from slipping away.
