Bills linked to signing Devin White

The Buffalo Bills could use another linebacker or two and could look to bring in another Super Bowl champion.

Buffalo has Matt Milano as a free agent, as well as Shaq Thompson, and the Bills need to address that hole. Although the first wave of free agency is long over, there are still some impactful free agents available that are likely waiting to sign after the draft.

Ahead of the draft, Bills analyst Jamie Malloy of FanSided urges the team to sign Devin White.

“At the beginning of his career, Devin White was a menace on the field for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he earned his first Pro Bowl bid,” Malloy wrote. “Since then, he’s lost a little of that toughness in him that once made him a nightmare to play against. With that being said, he’s still a consistent and reliable tackler, as he made 174 of them in 2025 with the Raiders, a franchise record for him, while adding 2.5 sacks.

“The Super Bowl LV Champion with the Buccaneers still has plenty of time left in his career to return to the 2020 version of himself. What better place to do it than in Orchard Park, with the Bills playing in a brand-new stadium with a strong defense that’s tailor-made for him to showcase his abilities.”

White is 28 years old and would be a great tackling linebacker who could be a rotational player at this stage of his career. The former Pro Bowler was a key part of the Buccaneers’ defense that won Super Bowl LV. With the Bills, he could help take some pressure off Terrel Bernard and Dorian Williams.

What Will Devin White Sign For?

White is still an impact linebacker in the NFL. But he will likely have to sign a cheap one-year deal to prove he can get back to his old self.

Spotrac predicted the linebacker will sign a one-year, $2.8 million deal, which is more than affordable for the Bills. At just $2.8 million, it’s a low-risk move, and if he struggles in training camp, it’s a deal Buffalo can easily get off of.

But White can add some veteran insurance at linebacker in Buffalo, especially if Thompson and Milano don’t return in 2026.

The Bills are also transitioning to a 3-4 defense, so the linebacker play will be more important, and having extra bodies is key.

Buffalo Looking to Add at Linebacker

The Bills have been active in overhauling their defense this offseason, and the team may not be done.

Ahead of the NFL Draft, Bills general manager Brandon Beane said the team is looking to add more linebackers.

“We do need to continue to add more [at linebacker]. We’ve had conversations through free agency with linebackers, other positions. We have not chosen to add one at this point,” said Beane at the league meetings.

“At this time, there’s guys that are like,’you know what? I didn’t get the money I was looking for. I kind of want to wait until after the draft and see where guys go.’ You’re kind of at that point with some of the vets that have played.”

The Bills could also address the linebacker position in the Draft.
